The world can be cruel enough at times. If you want to participate with Our Common Ground, you are required to treat others with respect and dignity. You can expect the same. Our Common Ground is a public forum, and we do not edit or moderate posts from users before they become public. We must work together to create a safe and respectful space.

We commit to removing content and users who do not conduct themselves in line with our policies, but You are responsible, if you witness hurtful, disrespectful, or any conduct that is not focused on helping others, to address it with respect, and/or report it immediately. Failure to treat others with respect may result in being removed from the community.

Even the most loving and connected community comes with risks in participating. Our Common Ground does not screen members, nor do we monitor interactions.

We have found that one of the best ways to stay safe is to ensure that all community members use the same precautions, common sense and considerations they would do in their normal lives. It may be helpful, before every interaction, to ask yourself, ‘Would I do this in other parts of my life?’

All initial interactions should be in public settings, with a group when possible, until significant trust and rapport is established, and you would otherwise choose to connect with someone one on one. You can also view a member's profile to see other interactions they have had, which may help in making decisions around interactions. 

Our Common Ground is all about sharing photos, ideas, passions and opportunities with others. It is important that in every single post, you consider that it will be public. You are responsible to make sure you have permission to share all content.

Do not give out personal or banking information (e.g. social insurance number, bank account number, address) over the Internet. Inform Our Common Ground of any attempted fraud or suspicious emails, ads, or other activity by community members. In the case of fraud, or other harm by a community member, first file a police report and then contact us.

The purpose of OCG is to use our passions to help others in primarily 'neighbour to neighbour' ways. There are no fees to participate on the site, and, it is not appropriate to use the site primarily to sell services or products.

With that said, sometimes in working together to make a positive impact there are costs involved. In cases where there is a financial component or agreement of any sort, this is conducted completely outside of Our Common Ground, and should be entered into with the same precaution you would take in your daily life.

Our Common Ground does not verify the legitimacy or skill of any community member, and it is each person’s responsibility to only enter into a financial transaction, or any other agreement, once they have all the information needed to make that decision.

You are required to do all due diligence and do your own research prior to any project or activity, including ensuring you have all the documentation, legal precautions, adherence to applicable laws and seeking relevant professional advice prior to all projects and interactions. OCG will not mediate any disagreements or disputes, nor are we liable or responsible for any results of these interactions.

We receive, collect and store any information you enter on our website or provide us in any other way. In addition, we collect the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet; login; e-mail address; password; computer and connection information and purchase history. We may use software tools to measure and collect session information, including page response times, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information, and methods used to browse away from the page. We also collect personally identifiable information (including name, email, password, communications); payment details (including credit card information), comments, feedback, product reviews, recommendations, and personal profile.

When you conduct a transaction on our website, as part of the process, we collect personal information you give us such as your name, address and email address. Your personal information will be used for the specific reasons stated in, 'Information we collect'.

We collect such Non-personal and Personal Information for the following purposes:

All direct payment gateways offered by Wix.com and used by our company adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.
